Popular Malayalam filmmaker and actor Nadirshah has raised serious allegations of medical negligence after the sudden death of his beloved pet cat, Chakkara, also known as Nobel, at a veterinary hospital in Kochi. The incident occurred at the Ernakulam Pet Hospital in Palarivattom on June 14. According to Nadirshah, the Persian cat was taken to the hospital for routine grooming. He claimed that the hospital staff tied a harness around the cat's neck and administered sedation before taking her inside. Moments later, they returned with the lifeless body of the cat, citing cardiac arrest during the sedation process.

Deeply distressed, Nadirshah lodged a formal police complaint, alleging that negligence during the procedure led to his pet's untimely death. “This should not happen to any other pet. I urge pet owners to be cautious and avoid such places,” he said in a statement.In response, the hospital maintained that the sedation was done as per protocol and with the owner’s consent. They described the incident as an unexpected cardiac complication, denying any wrongdoing.

The local police have registered the complaint and confirmed that a post-mortem has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is currently underway. The incident has sparked discussions online, with many expressing sympathy for Nadirshah and calling for stricter regulations in veterinary care and pet grooming services.
